SAMPLE_DESCRIPTION:
"T-13 Perthite 415B--Perth, Ontario. perthite is a name given to intergrown orthoclase or microcline with albite. The spectrum indicates a small amount of water, plus the fall off at 0.55µ similar to the feature discussed for microcline's 151B and 108B, and for orthoclase 82B."
Hunt, G.R., J.W. Salisbury, and C.J. Lenhoff, 1973, Visible and near-infrared spectra of minerals and rocks: VI. Additional silicates. Modern Geology, v. 4, p. 85-106.
Grain size fractions are indicated by the extension after the sample number:
.1B = <5 µm
.2B = <74 µm
.3B = 74-250 µm
.4B = 250-1200 µm
.6 = cut slab

SPECTROSCOPIC_DISCUSSION:
A weak to moderately strong 2.2-µm feature is present, indicating some alteration. There are also a sharp OH stretch absorptions near 3225 and 3600 cm-1 also indicative of alteration. G. Swayze.
