TITLE: Olivine KI3005 Fo11 DESCRIPT

DOCUMENTATION_FORMAT: MINERAL

SAMPLE_ID: KI3005

MINERAL_TYPE: Nesosilicate

MINERAL: Olivine (Olivine group)

FORMULA: Mg2SiO4-Fe2SiO4 Fo11

FORMULA_HTML: Mg2SiO4-Fe2SiO4 Fo11

COLLECTION_LOCALITY: Kiglapait intrusive, Labrador

ORIGINAL_DONOR: S.A. Morse, University of Massachusetts, Amherst

CURRENT_SAMPLE_LOCATION: USGS Denver Spectroscopy Laboratory

ULTIMATE_SAMPLE_LOCATION: USGS Denver Spectroscopy Laboratory

SAMPLE_DESCRIPTION:

Sample has been subjected to Franz Isodynamic Magnetic Separator, heavy liquid (Clerici) separation and hand-picking. Mineral separated is at least 98% pure olivine. Samples sieved to less than 60µm, prior to spectral characterization. Fe-rich (Fo11) end member of a suite of Kiglapait olivine's.
