SAMPLE_DESCRIPTION:

Weathered oil from the Deepwater Horizon spill in the form of an oil-water emulsion at the shoreline. The spectrum is an average of 16 measurements made of the water containing clumps of red oil-water emulsion. The adjacent marsh plants had their leaves and stems coated with The spectrum was measured in the field on August 13, 2010. The reflectance spectrum has absorption features centered near 1.72 and 2.30 microns arising from C-H bonds in weathered oil.
