SPECTROSCOPIC_DISCUSSION:

This pigment has weak absorptions consistent with goethite at 0.504 and 0.987 microns. Goethite and manganese oxide apparently combine to form a moderately strong absorption edge centered at 0.669 microns. Weak vibrational absorptions at 1.414 and 2.026 microns may indicate trace montmorillonite (continuum removed positions). G. Swayze
