Middle Rio Grande Basin

Gravity Method

Gravity Anomaly MapThe Santa Fe Group has much lower density than the surrounding bedrock, producing low values (blues and purples) on the gravity anomaly map.
Base of aquifer systemPerspective view of the southern part of a model of the basin showing the base of aquifer system; that is, with the Santa Fe Group stripped off. The model was derived from the gravity data, constrained by deep drill-hole information.
